Understanding the pilot and Fasting imitating program™

The FIP, designed and meticulously crafted by us, is a groundbreaking approach to rejuvenating your body from within.

In a pursuit of scientific excellence and quality assurance, we partnered with Ultrahuman and NuWe for the study. Ultrahuman’s M1 ensured comprehensive tracking, while NuWe, led by clinical nutritionist Pariksha Rao, oversaw the health assessment and monitoring throughout the transformative 14-day user study.

The 3 Phases of the Pilot: A 14-Day Journey

Pre-Fasting Phase: Lasting 4 days, participants maintained routine activities while wearing continuous glucose monitors to establish baseline health markers. This phase included the first blood test, assessing 58 health parameters, and recording anthropometric data (height, weight, waist circumference). It provided vital baseline information for each participant.

Fasting Phase: Participants entered a 5-day fasting period using the Outlive kit, comprising plant-based energy bars, soups, snacks, drinks, and supplements. Nutritionists closely monitored their fasting period through glucose monitors.

Post-Fast Phase: Spanning 5 days, this phase allowed the study of post-fast functionality and metabolism. Participants gradually reintegrated into their normal routines and diets, continuously monitored by the glucose monitor. On the 14th day, participants underwent a final blood test of the same 58 parameters, along with recording their final anthropometric data.

Conducting the study in this manner allowed for a comprehensive understanding of how the fast influenced participants’ biochemical and anthropometric parameters, along with continuous study of their metabolic data throughout the study.

The participants and sample size

Initially, 44 healthy participants committed to the study, each undergoing a enrolment health assessment for the previous year. Exclusion criteria included a history of heart surgery, high blood pressure, migraines, abnormal profiles for liver/kidney/lipids/hormones, BMI over 35, and females in pregnancy/lactation. This screening ensured a well-defined sample.

Each participant received a continuous glucose monitoring device for meal and activity tracking. Blood tests were conducted before and after the program, and participants had 24x7 nutritionist support.

Participants wore Ultrahuman M1 continous glucose monitors (CGM) for four days, capturing meal and movement data to establish baseline metabolic information. Participants maintained their regular routines, refraining from excessive eating and drinking.

On Day 4, biocheminal tests and anthropometic measurements were conducted, including C-reactive protein, LFT, body weight, abdominal fat, waist circumference, lean body mass, lipid profile, blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, and IGF-1. Participants began a 5-day fasting program on Day 5.

During the fasting period (Day 5- Day 9), Ultrahuman M1 continued to monitor metabolic data. After resuming normal routines and diet by Day 10, participants underwent a follow-up biochemical and anthropometric assessment, while M1 recorded post-fast metabolic data.

The results: what the pilot taught us

Significant transformations were observed, encompassing weight reduction, diminished waist circumference, and enhanced body composition. A per the study, the Fast Imitating Program (FIP) influenced a spectrum of biomarkers, indicative of potential advantages for metabolic health, glucose regulation, and hormonal equilibrium. The detailed exploration in this section unveils the nuanced impact of fasting on key health indicators.

The relationship between FIP and weight loss

After just one round of the Outlive program, participants shed an average of 2 kgs, feeling not only lighter but also more energized. The BMI took a noticeable dip from 25.32 to 24.48, and when it came to the waistline, we observed on avg a 2-inch drop from 32.19 to 30.87. Here's the kicker: the percentage of participants in the overweight category went down from 39% to 34%. While we're just scratching the surface, these initial outcomes suggest that FIP holds promise for effective weight management. Glucose scores, powered by the ultrahuman M1

Subjects wore a Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) sensor for the entire duration of the study. This sensor captured their glucose readings at different points of time and accordingly based on these readings, different glucose scores were calculated based on the daily lifestyle activities and body response.
